Decarbonisation

Decarbonisation
What is Decarbonisation

When we burn fossil fuels to heat and power our homes and businesses, Carbon dioxide is released. Carbon dioxide (CO2), is a greenhouse gas, and when it is released, it accumulates in the atmosphere and contributes to the greenhouse effect, trapping heat and leading to global warming and climate change.

In simple terms, decarbonisation is the process of reducing or removing CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions to help mitigate climate change. The goal of decarbonisation is to decrease and begin to reduce the concentration of greenhouse gases in the Earth’s atmosphere, to reduce the primary drivers of global warming and climate change. The ultimate aim is Net Zero and beyond.

Lighting –

Traditional incandescent or fluorescent lighting is a carbon heavy technology that is expensive to operate and will deliver significant ongoing energy savings of over 50% if they are replaced with newer LED lighting. There is an LED equivalent for almost all existing fittings, or a suitable replacement for the whole unit if not.

Our team are experts in LED lighting replacement or upgrades. LED Lighting replacement makes financial sense, whether as a stand alone project, or as part of a wider decarbonisation strategy.

LED Lighting is a smart choice for businesses looking to improve energy efficiency, reduce operational costs, and enhance lighting quality. Paybacks can be within 12 months and with a much longer bulb life, savings will be delivered for many years to come.

Heating –

With the UK facing significant challenges in achieving net zero targets, Far Infrared heating technology presents an opportunity for transformative change as an alternative technology and route to deliver low carbon heating, it also being the most optimal system to be packaged with renewables and energy storage.

Far Infrared heating technology delivers energy more efficiently than any convection-based system, emitting Far Infra-Red at the exact wavelength of sunlight, directly heating residents, objects and the entire fabric in a room with almost no convection effect, ultimately heating the air from recirculating energy emitting out of structure. This manifests uniquely as thermal mass storage, at its optimum level it creates the equivalent of a room/house size storage heater.

This approach not only reduces energy consumption to levels comparable in the heating season to Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHPs) and circa 50% better than other direct electric systems or storage heaters, it also significantly lowers carbon emissions by three times against fossil fuel systems, making a substantial contribution to environmental sustainability.
