Introduction

Downland bedding is a Liverpool based bedding manufacturer established in 1946, with established clients such as: Next, Very, & various hotel chains.

The project

The project entailed a complete installation of emergency lighting across Downland Bedding’s 65,000 SQFT warehouse facility in Liverpool. This undertaking was particularly challenging, as evidenced by ConneX being one of the few contractors to submit a realistic quote. We provided a provisional quote with a range of figures, contingent upon a full site survey.

Downland Bedding agreed to the provisional figures, allowing us to conduct a comprehensive site survey to determine cable routes and containment specifications. Our extensive experience with challenging projects assured us of our ability to complete the work, but it required deploying some of our most experienced teams.

Given the warehouse layout and ongoing operations, all our activities had to be planned and coordinated with various site managers to avoid disrupting business operations and ensure the safety of both our staff and Downland Bedding’s operatives. We employed diverse wiring techniques and demonstrated our expertise and ingenuity by reusing some existing containment systems to navigate the property.

We successfully delivered a comprehensive emergency lighting solution, installing over 200 fittings across four floors and spanning 65,000 SQFT. Despite its challenges, the project was a fantastic experience.
